The Story Behind Clarke’s of Dublin:
Family Legacy & Artisan Craft
Clarke’s of Dublin is a celebration of
family history, artistry, and sustainable
craftsmanship.
Suzanne Clarke, an Irish sculptor and
artisan, draws inspiration from her
great-grandfather, Philip Clarke,
who lived in the historic Liberties
on Cork Street with his wife Monica
and their children. Philip was a
member of the Irish Citizen Army,
actively involved in the 1914 Lockout,
and later fought bravely during
the 1916 Easter Rising, who lost his
life on Easter Monday 1916. Naming
the brand Clarke’s of Dublin
is Suzanne’s way of honoring Philip’s
legacy and bringing his story forward
through her work.
From Art to Artisan Skincare
“Soap is now my passion,” explains
Suzanne Clarke. “Although I never
imagined I would end up making
fine artisan bathing and shaving
products, I have always been driven
by my desire to create—whether
a piece of art, sculpture, or something
more practical like beauty products.”
Each product reflects Suzanne’s
artistic sensibilities: thoughtful design,
attention to detail, and a love for
materials that are natural, sustainable,
and uniquely Irish.
